Run a blocking function in a worker thread without losing cancellation state.

Parameters
function:`Callable[..., T]`	Function to execute in a worker thread.
*args:`object`	Positional arguments passed to the function.

Returns
`T`	The result returned by the function.

Raises
`CancelledError`	After the worker finishes, preserving the first cancellation even if further cancellations arrive while waiting for safe resource cleanup.
